Yeah Otis was pretty worried about that. He’s never been in trouble with the law before. He can’t read, otherwise I’m sure he would have resisted trying to eat the tag. 
Fortunately, I asked my personal lawyer for some advice on the matter. 

Harvey informs me that it is illegal for a merchant to remove one of these tags. In the past, shady dealers of furnishings would often lie about the quality of materials and try to charge higher prices. However, once you purchase the item and have it in your home, you are legally allowed to rip off the tags if you wish.
This is good news for Otis. He really didn’t like the fugitive life. He wasn’t very good at being on the lam. Mainly because he misunderstood what that meant.
